KEY TAKES

A public ticker for a frontier AI lab just hit the tape, and this afternoon the money is going to the chipmakers. Anthropic filed for a Nasdaq IPO under the symbol ANT (MT Newswires 12:17 PM ET). As of 1:25 PM ET, SOXX is +3.75%, Micron +4.2%, AMD +2.9%, Nvidia +2.6%. QQQ is +1.40%. DIA is +0.31%.

Tesla (TSLA) is +6.4% after an analyst upgrade and SpaceX deal talk. Oil eased (USO -1.4%), VXX is -2.6%, and the 10-year yield is at 5.00%. Apple is -1.1% and Meta is -0.3%. Healthcare is the weakest sector. EQT agreed to a deal for Range Resources (RRC +17%).

TODAY'S TOP 5 GAINERS

1 · AZTR +149.0% · $1.78. Ex vivo lab-tissue results for cosmetic candidate ATR-COSF: one 2% dose cut wrinkle measures about 50% at 48 hours (PR Newswire 8:45 AM ET). Noise: lab tissue data, not tested in people, 109 million shares on a sub-$2 stock.

2 · SGRY +47.2% · $23.19. $23.50-a-share buyout by HealthSpan Partners (Bon Secours Mercy Health affiliate), about $5.7 billion (The Fly 11:58 AM ET). RBC to Sector Perform at $23.50. Real deal, mostly priced in: about 31 cents left.

3 · CLRO +46.6% · $4.76. No company news. IBN: 55 million shares by 10:54 AM ET versus a 3.4 million 30-day average. Noise: volume with no news.

4 · SPRC +36.2% · $1.49. No fresh news. Last release Oct 22: Phase IIb Tourette update from NeuroThera Labs. Hit a 52-week low Oct 23. Noise: sub-$2 bounce, no new catalyst.

5 · EAF +30.6% · $11.11. No fresh news. Follows Friday's Q3: $1.21 loss per share, revenue ahead of estimates (Zacks Oct 23). Unclear: delayed reaction, light volume (1.3 million shares).

THE SIGNAL

The market paid the AI suppliers, not the AI spenders. Anthropic's filing gives the trade a public price for a frontier lab. SOXX is +3.75% and Micron is +4.2%, while Meta, reported to be raising $95 billion in stock for AI, slipped and Apple is -1.1%. Exposed: anyone holding the spenders and assuming the supplier bid lifts them too.

Wrong if: SOXX gives back today's 3.75% gain before Wednesday's Fed decision, or Meta finishes the week higher than the chip ETF.

HEADLINE OF THE DAY

“Update: US Equity Indexes Rise After Anthropic Files for Nasdaq IPO”

MT Newswires | Oct 26, 12:17 PM ET

The filing put ticker ANT on a frontier AI lab, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley leading. Two and a half hours before the bell, the suppliers are the ones collecting on that listing. SeekingAlpha called it the first AI lab to officially file; Meta and Apple did not get the bid.

ONE TO WATCH

SOXX (iShares Semiconductor ETF) · $496.13 (+3.75% as of 1:25 PM ET) · Fed rate decision Wed Oct 28. Chips led today's Anthropic move (MU +4.2%, AMD +2.9%, NVDA +2.6%). A rate path that keeps yields near 5% tests whether chips can hold a 3.75% one-day pop.
