They go home at 4 PM Friday.
The news doesn’t.

Every Friday at 4 PM Eastern, the people running billion dollar accounts on Wall Street physically leave the market.

Fund managers, bank traders, analysts. Gone until Monday.

That’s not a rumor. It’s just how their week works.

Meanwhile, news keeps breaking on hundreds of smaller companies all weekend long, and almost nobody with real institutional money is watching to react to it.

Millionaire trader Tim Sykes calls that gap the Weekend Gap, and it’s the entire reason he can place a trade Friday afternoon, close his laptop, and check the result Monday morning.

He just recorded a video walking through exactly how he trades it.

Futures are red: SPY down 1.0%, QQQ down 1.7%, IWM down 0.8% (~07:18 ET). AI names are selling worldwide, and oil is up about 3% with Brent above $112 after another attack in Saudi Arabia (Dow Jones). Lam Research is down 7% on a beat. Its CFO said supply-chain limits held the guide back and China will be a much smaller share of December-quarter sales (MT Newswires). Tesla is down 3% after its Q3 report.

THE HEADLINE THAT MATTERS TODAY

A New Mexico judge ordered Meta to pay $25 billion. That lands on top of a quarter that already carried a $9.89 billion legal charge.

MT Newswires via QuoteMedia · Oct 22, 2026 07:15 ET. “Update: Meta Reportedly Ordered to Pay New Mexico $25 Billion in Cambridge Analytica Case”

A jury had found Meta liable for more than 43 million violations of New Mexico consumer protection law tied to Cambridge Analytica; Meta’s chief legal officer says the company is confident it will win on appeal. The quarter itself was strong: revenue rose 26% to $64.6 billion against a $63.34 billion estimate, and the Q4 guide is $73 billion to $76 billion (MT Newswires). The stock rose after hours on that guide and has flipped; META is down 2.5% near $680.

Who’s exposed: Meta holders, and anyone leaning on the AI spending trade. Meta just lifted the low end of its 2026 capex range to $135 billion, and Lam’s drop shows a beat is not enough right now.

Next: Weekly jobless claims at 8:30 ET. Procter & Gamble, Lockheed Martin, Comcast and American Airlines report before the bell. The Fed meets next week.

Wrong if: META reclaims Wednesday’s ~$697.50 close. That would say the market reads the $25 billion order as an appeal story, not a cash bill.

TOP PRE-MARKET MOVERS

1 · STAK +53% ($1.53). STAK Inc., a Chinese oilfield equipment maker, posted fiscal 2026 results after Wednesday’s close: revenue up 13.2% and a return to net income of $0.4 million (PR Newswire).

2 · BKYI +26% ($2.64). BIO-key said an unnamed Middle East government institution picked its passwordless biometric login platform, its seventh new Gulf customer in six months. No contract value was given (GlobeNewswire, 03:59 ET).

3 · SAIQ +17% ($6.52). No fresh company news. WISeSat.Space is bouncing after a drop of about the same size into Wednesday’s close (MT Newswires).

Prices ~07:18 ET. STAK earned $0.4 million on the year and is worth about $29 million, BKYI about $5 million. SAIQ is a rebound with no catalyst. Keep size small on all three.
