THE SIGNAL

Big Tech is now paying for 20 years of existing nuclear output, and Washington is lining up loans to keep old reactors running (Vistra's conditional DOE commitment of up to $4.2B). A contracted, always-on megawatt just got more expensive, and the owners of reactors (CEG, VST, TLN) got re-rated in one session. Who's hurt: later buyers of power on that grid, who may pay more for it, and late buyers of names that ran with no contract of their own (TLN had no wire). OPCH buyers at about $31.10 now earn about 3% to wait for a first-half 2027 close. Exposed next session: TLN into Wed Oct 7 Fed minutes, CEG chasers above the $291 open, OPCH spread buyers (vote, H1 2027 close), and lagging IWM small caps.

Wrong if: CEG gives back its $291 open, or the 10-year climbs back above 5.30% after Wednesday's Fed minutes.

HEADLINE OF THE DAY

“Top Midday Stories: Google Strikes 20-Year Nuclear Power Deal With Constellation; Marvell Raises Revenue Guidance for 2026-27”

MT Newswire via QuoteMedia | Oct 6, 2026 11:45 ET

Google locked 890 MW of nuclear onto the PJM grid for 20 years, a deal that enables more than $4.3B of equipment and technology at 11 Constellation plants in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. That puts a 20-year price on power that already exists, set by one of the biggest buyers in AI. Anyone shopping for power on that grid later is bidding against it.

ONE TO WATCH

TLN · Fed September-meeting minutes Wed Oct 7. Opened $349.15. TLN ran 12% with no wire of its own. Does it hold that open through Wednesday's Fed minutes, or was that just CEG's deal rubbing off?
