Most people find the stock after it moves.
Tim Sykes looks at what happens before.

Most people notice a big stock move after it has already happened.

They see the chart. They see the headlines. They see everyone talking about it.

But by then they’re too late.

The early setup happened before all of that.

Before the stock was on television.
Before the crowd arrived.
Before the biggest candles appeared on the chart.

Tim Sykes has spent more than 20 years studying what happens before those moves, and distilled it into an indicator built around the three conditions he watches.

18 lines of code, built to help you get in before the rest of the crowd. Tim explains the process in a 9-minute video.

Quiet open after Thursday’s rotation out of tech on the hottest PPI in more than four years (DIA +1.08%, IWM +1.37%, QQQ −0.13%). SPY +0.17%, QQQ −0.04%, IWM +0.24% premarket (~07:25 ET), and SMH −0.77% as chips come off a seventh straight down day.

THE HEADLINE THAT MATTERS TODAY

Travelers beat by $1.79 a share and still sank 5%. Premiums barely grew.

MT Newswires via QuoteMedia · Oct 16, 2026 07:12 ET. “Travelers Companies’ Q3 Core Income Rises, Revenue Falls”

Travelers earned $9.18 a share in core income, against $7.39 expected (FactSet) and $8.14 a year ago. SeekingAlpha says favorable reserves and higher investment income did the lifting, while net written premiums came in at $11.48B vs $11.47B a year earlier (The Fly). TRV was down 5.1% near $364.50 premarket.

Who’s exposed: The banks, where the quality of a beat matters as much as the size. Truist missed ($1.16 vs $1.21, The Fly) after a loan-sale hit and is down 1.8%. M&T beat on lower provisions ($5.04 vs $4.92) and is up 2.6%.

Next: Import and export prices printed at 8:30 AM ET, before this email landed. Industrial production hits at 9:15 ET. SLB, Regions and Citizens report before the bell.

Wrong if: TRV gets back to Thursday’s close near $384 in the first hour. That would say the market didn’t care about flat premiums.

TOP PRE-MARKET MOVERS

1 · TCRT +34% ($2.93) · Nasdaq. Alaunos Therapeutics has no company release this morning. The only new item is a Schedule 13D ownership filing late Thursday (SEC); the filer and stake size weren’t in the summary.

2 · XLAB +27% ($1.73) · Nasdaq. Exascale Labs has no release either. A Form 3 and a Schedule 13G ownership filing landed late Thursday (SEC), hours after a new 52-week low.

3 · SITC +19% ($3.57) · NYSE. SITE Centers declared a $3.00 special distribution after selling its DTP interests for $32.4M, and plans to delist from the NYSE before Dec. 4 with no other exchange lined up (Business Wire Oct 15).

Prices ~07:25 ET. Two of the three are moving on ownership filings alone. Gaps like that can reverse at the bell; size accordingly.
